May 15, 2007, Deerfield Beach, FL – Platinum Television Group is pleased to announce the selection of A. Fuente Cigars, U.S.A., Inc. of Tampa, FLfor a segment on “The Art of The Finest Cigar“ on its national television series, “Great Taste.” It will be featured in a segment on “Accents to Finer Living.” Airings will be through Travel and/or Discovery Channel and Style nationally, and on regional news networks in many of the top 100 markets nationwide.
Dating back to the 1800s in Cuba, the Fuente and Newman families have been making cigars throughout four generations. Premium handmade cigars are manufactured, distributed and sold to licensed retail tobacconists. Arturo Fuente learned from his father how to cultivate tobacco and manufacture handmade cigars and his son, Carlos Fuente, Sr., whose first home served as a Fuente cigar factory in Tampa, continues in his footsteps. Also, his son Carlos Jr. was born into the business.
The family business created one of the finest cigars anywhere, the Fuente Fuente OpusX, which is the first successful cigar to be made with a Cuban-seed wrapper grown under shade in the Dominican Republic. International cigar experts and critics praise the Fuentes family for their Chateau de la Fuente wrapper leaves--reputed to be the best in the world. Some of their most popular and quality made cigars that contribute to their reputation include: Arturo Fuente, Cuesta-Rey, Cuesta-Rey Centenario, Diamond Crown, Don Carlos, Hemingway, La Unica, Montesino, Rigoletto Handmade and La Unica Cameroon.
The Fuentes started with seven employees when opening their first factory in 1980. Providing a quality product for cigar lovers made it inevitable for the family to soon open a second factory. Today, there are six factories. Over 2,000 employees are now working in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
The family’s hard work, dedication and passion for producing the finest cigar product have contributed greatly to their success. Carlos Jr. says, “We are a family business…our factories and our plantations comprise our family kitchen.“ He further explains that by staying in the ‘kitchen’ they are able to produce an outstanding product that pleases every time. “…And because tobacco is in our blood, that is all my family and I ever aspired to achieve,” he says.
Viewers will see the growing facilities in the Dominican Republic and get a better understanding of the art of producing the finest internationally renowned Arturo Fuente handmade cigars.
